| The Wisconsin Burglar is a supporter of
many community activities.
In 2001 the Chip for Charity Funds
were donated to the Germantown Survive Alive House. In 2002 a donation was made to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation.
In an ongoing effort to support other community
ventures that reflect the goals and mission of the organization the
WB&FAA has partnered with the educational efforts of Fox
Valley Technical College and the Germantown
Survive Alive House.

Germantown
Survive Alive House
From
the exterior the Survive Alive House looks like any other house on your
block. It has two floors with bedrooms, a kitchen, family room, and
bathrooms. From the pictures on the wall and carpeting on the floor,
just an ordinary home.
If
you look closely you might see the residential sprinklers, cameras, and
special sound systems and its controls built into the house to make it a
flexible learning tool. What you won't see is the professional lighting
system and controls, silk flame effects, heated bedroom doors,
artificial smoke generators and ventilation system.
The
SA House also incorporates numerous other types of new technology, from
the use of insulated concrete forms making the exterior walls stronger,
weather safe and more energy efficient, to state of the art residential
sprinklers, and special cabling to make each room flexible enough to be
a separate classroom if needed.
Next,
personal safety was incorporated via alarm systems (donated by the
members of the WB&FAA) and locks to teach home security and
safety.
The
house also includes many assisted living tools like grab bars and
various other tools so that the physically restricted guest can learn
what is available to them and how to use them safely in their own home.
All
SA Houses will also be internet active, making them accessible to
everyone.
